I know it comes of hard. But that is the point. "Crucify" the ego symbolizes the deliberate act of dismantling and transcending the ego's influence over our thoughts, behaviors, and sense of self.
Just as a crucifixion represents a painful and transformative process leading to renewal, "crucifying" the ego involves confronting its control and embracing vulnerability, humility, and self-awareness.
The phrase "crucify the ego" should not be viewed as an attack on Christianity or any Religion, but rather as a metaphor for personal transformation and growth as explained in another question.
The concept of Ego Death aligns with spiritual teachings found across many religious traditions, including Christianity, which often encourage selflessness, humility, and surrendering the ego for a higher purpose.
The intent is not to criticize religious beliefs, but to explore a universal theme of self-awareness.
Good question! I did use and create the methodology I have set out in the book to understand my own limitations caused by my ego.
I will write a blog (or multiple) about my own transformation but in short it comes down to this:
I started writing down the words my inner voice was speaking to myself and I was replying to it by saying "noo, you can't do that", "You're not good enough for this", "What would people think of you if you did this"... the list goes on.
From those words I wrote in a journal I started going back into my childhood experiences to understand where these limitations were coming from. From there on out I tried figuring out who I really was instead of the mask I was wearing towards the people around me. So showing my true self to the outside world involved me, being completely vulnerable towards all those around me and gamble that they would accept this new version of myself. Needless to say I was stunned by the positive replies I received, which still motivates me to go further into my personal transformation.
Feel free to share your personal transformation with me!
Look, I know this statement is naïve. But YES! I truly believe that the principles outlined in the book can contribute to changing the world and creating a new society.
I think that if more people embrace these values, the cumulative effect can lead to a society grounded in more kindness, cooperation, and long-term sustainability.
People should dare to confront and dismantle their egos, which are at the root of many global issues like greed, division, and a lack of empathy.
I think you mean, beyond journalling, creating values and working on understanding yourself.
